Cathy Kissinger

Dr. Cathy Kissinger, PT, DPT, is a physical therapist who leads the Rehabilitation, Athletic Medicine, and Integrative Therapies teams for Gunnison Valley Health. Her responsibilities extend across the Valley – from the Athletic Training and Sports Performance teams at WCU, to two outpatient therapy clinics in Gunnison, an outpatient therapy clinic in Crested Butte, inpatient therapies, and therapy care at the Senior Care Center.  She also leads the hospital’s complementary Integrative Therapies team, supporting GVH’s wide range of oncology services, TETWP Make It a Great Day program, worker’s compensation, and project HOPE. She is passionate about building strong teams, process improvement, and providing seamless, coordinated care.

Dr. Kissinger grew up in the Ozark Mountains of southern Missouri, earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Missouri, her master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Southwest Baptist University, and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Texas Women’s University. She has also had advanced training in treatment of orthopedic and sports injuries, manual therapy, edema management, and was invited to present on the topics of chronic hamstring injuries and arthrogenic muscle inhibition at the Dallas Fort Worth Sports Medicine Symposium. She has worked with FC Dallas athletes and helped them return from career-threatening injuries to enjoy many more years of professional competitive play.

In her free time, Dr. Kissinger enjoys reading, baking, hiking, exercising with Camp Gladiator, backpacking, and mountain climbing.
